Yuba City 5 - my best explanation for it : r/UnresolvedMysteries
According to the recent Yuba County 5 podcast, the farthest distance traveled was 12 miles from the car to the forest service trailer. The fact that Weiher, Mathias and probably Huett made the distance in knee-high snow and freezing temperatures adds to the mystery.
[OC] Yuba County Five Theory - Part 1 : r/UnresolvedMysteries
Weeks later, I still found myself knee-deep in newspaper clippings and history from the 1970s, maps of Yuba City, and a ton of other source material and speculative theories. I have my theories about what went on in that forest service trailer and the involvement Joseph Schons as well, but this already ended up being so much longer than I ...
Some nagging questions about the Yuba County 5 - Reddit
As of 2018 the Yuba county coroner was by default the elected Sheriff, and any and all deputized officers may serve as assistant coroner if needed. Any judgement made by the coroner likely came from the body itself at the 'crime scene' or photos of it, and were based on police experience more so than medical expertise.

2022年4月25日 · Essentially, 5 men aged 24-32, who all had varying degrees of special needs, were returning home from spectating a college basketball game. For some unexplained reason, they drove up a mountain road (in the opposite direction of home), left the safety of their car and eventually 4/5 would be discovered having died for various reasons (Gary ...
My speculation regarding the fate of the Yuba County Five.
They cover this in the Yuba County Five podcast (which I thought was well done). If I’m remembering correctly the short version is that Gary’s sister had dated and broken up with a guy well known around town for being a mean, potentially violent person. After the breakup he had been somewhat terrorizing and threatening the family.

This case remains open as a missing person/homicide case.
Internal Memo says Gary Matthias was probably killed due to
2022年4月1日 · The Yuba County 5 case is one that really tugs at my heartstrings. Recently, a new podcast came out, Mopac Audio, and they had a surprising tidbit at the very end of the podcast. First, if you don’t know the case already, here is a summary from Wikipedia:

2021年4月9日 · There's a podcast called HEX: The human exception that have done a great podcast on the yuba county 5, think its episode 3 and File 0027 on their website. Would recommend checking that out as they read through the new book and discuss theories. Most of the families believe a guy Gary knew at the time was involved in their sons unfortunate demise.
[OC] Yuba County Five - Part 2 : r/UnresolvedMysteries - Reddit
I would love to stay up in Yuba City, especially because it’s only around 2.5 hours from where I live. Gary’s paranoid schizophrenia likely plays a role in the whole situation somehow. If there was something that they perceived as a threat, it could have happened at any point that night (or in any capacity, like you said).
The Yuba County Five (Netflix) : r/TrueCrimeMystery - Reddit
Since The Boys lived in a small town, I believe that there was a cover-up. I have talked to several people who used to live in Yuba County and they said that the police were indeed pretty corrupt. I have heard that the Yuba County police were later involved with Hells Angels in drug deals in the 80s (only a few years after the Boys went missing).
