The McArthur River is a river in the Northern Territory of Australia which flows into the Gulf of Carpentaria at Port McArthur, opposite the Sir Edward Pellew Group of Islands. The river was named by Ludwig Leichhardt while he explored the area in 1845. [2]

We are located on one of the world’s largest deposits of zinc and lead, about 970 kilometres south-east of Darwin in Australia’s Northern Territory. Our operation includes an open cut mine and processing facilities. Zinc and lead is mined and processed at McArthur River Mine and trucked to Bing Bong Loading Facility on the Gulf of Carpentaria.

The Port McArthur Tidal Wetlands System comprises a 994 km 2 tract of tidal wetlands on the south-west coast of the Gulf of Carpentaria in the Northern Territory of Australia. The land extends along the coast opposite the Sir Edward Pellew Group of Islands, incorporating the estuaries of the McArthur and Wearyan Rivers.

The McArthur River project is located approximately 850 kilometres south east of Darwin in the Northern Territory and 450 kilometres north-west of Mount Isa in Queensland. The project comprises one granted Exploration Licence (EL 24814) which covers a total
