You can get a 2.5" SATA SSD that's 1TB for the same price of a nvme 500GB. For gaming the extra speed of nvme is not noticeable. If you were editing video or transfering files all day long then you'd need the faster one, if not stick to SATA SSD and get more space.

Regardless, purchasing an M.2 SSD for development and as an OS drive is pretty invaluable to me. It's gonna save you write and read time compared to a SATA SSD on basically any operation.
