Interior Insulation - Backcountry Pilot
2020年1月18日 · I would second the quilted fiberglass mentioned before. The air gapping of fiberglass is your best insulation. Too bad they don't make aerogel insulation for aircraft, 1000° on one side, cool to the touch on the other, weighs virtually nothing. The one big failing of my patrol door was in the winter.
Corrosion C170/180 - Backcountry Pilot
2024年12月24日 · How common is corrosion on these old birds (Cessna 170/180)? The older 172 I am currently flying is constantly battling corrosion but we are near the coast in a high humidity environment. The plane is hangared daily in a fully enclosed hangar but there's no avoiding the salty air here near the gulf coast.
South America - Backcountry Pilot
2018年5月23日 · The purpose of this trip is partially the adventure of it, and also because I need to fly from a remote site to Santarem repeatedly (20-30 times) throughout the summer and this could actually save me a few bucks. Most of the local air taxis are flying Caravans and the cost adds up pretty fast. Plus, well, I just love flying.

2021年4月13日 · Not an IO-520 but thought it may be helpful. Airwolf on our 180H (O-470R). I would suggest mounting above a cowl flap which allows easy filter R&R without removing any cowling.
Surefly vs Electro Air - Backcountry Pilot
2006年5月31日 · The new engine is about to go back on and I’m trying to decide if the Electro Air is worth the extra $2k. My mechanic is if the opinion that Electro Air is the better product from the quality of build stand point. He has and operates both. He has been doing a lot of Electro Air installs lately. Electro is about $2k more than Surefly.
Best Camshaft??? - Backcountry Pilot
2006年5月20日 · But, nevertheless, the camshaft is up top, sitting in that very moist air trapped in the top of the case. Now, the cams with the oil holes are supposed to help that. Point is, however, that they sit there, unmoving just like the stock cams do UNLESS you fly the plane regularly. The cams with the oil holes only move oil when running, not when ...
AirSick - Backcountry Pilot
2013年1月24日 · He does much better in front especially when he can see over the dash. Also giving him "flying lessons" while on the trip helps, as he tends to get distracted with moving the controls and thinks less about his stomach. Try flying early/late in the day when air is the smoothest and coolest. Have used the ginger with no real results.
