Sublimation of Iodine - Chemistry Stack Exchange
2015年9月16日 · Sublimation of iodine at atmospheric pressure is not a bulk effect (which would be captured by the phase diagram) but a surface effect due to equilibrium vapor pressure. "Sublimation" is an overloaded term with two distinct meanings corresponding to evaporation and boiling in liquids, and what we generally talk about as sublimation of iodine is ...
Is it correct to say that SOME iodine undergoes sublimation at 1 …
Once the iodine is heated to it's melting point, it will continue the same process of vaporizing to it's equilibrium vapor pressure. Because it is now a liquid, we just call that evaporation rather than sublimation. If the iodine is further heated to it's boiling point at 1 atmosphere, then it will continue to rapidly evaporate as it boils away.
extraction - Sublimation of Iodine from Iodine Povidone
2016年5月20日 · Normally iodine boils at 184.3 °C, according to wikipedia. A video of how the procedure might work, except iodine crystals would replaced with boiled down iodine povidone: Sublimation of Iodine Time lapse. This can be used to purify iodine, so from my understanding, you would be able to vaporize the iodine and leave the polymer behind.
thermodynamics - Determining pressure of sublimation of iodine ...
2015年10月10日 · The pressure of sublimation of iodine can theoretically be determined by considering the two hypothetical steps: the sublimation of iodine at $\pu{298 K}$, followed by an isothermal expansion of our system until it reaches the sublimation pressure. a) Determine the enthalpy and entropy change for this process.
physical chemistry - Is sublimation a property of all substances ...
2017年4月12日 · At other temperatures and pressures there can be sublimation and deposition. The sublimation of water is involved in freeze drying and freezer burn of ice cream. It turns out that iodine sublimes at room temperature and atmospheric pressure but there’s nothing special about iodine compared to other substances on a fundamental level.
Why does substance that sublime not come to liquid state?
2019年2月27日 · Polar or flexible molecules tend to have a liquid phase also at low pressures, so do metals. Rigid, unpolar particles not (naphtalene, helium, iodine). The difference makes wether a not perfectly ordered phase still can have enough intermolecular forces to keep it in a condensed (=liquid) state. A molten metal is likely still metallic.
Why is sublimation considered a zero-order process?
2018年12月21日 · Why exactly is sublimation zero-order when clearly the surface area of a solid is variable in different instances? According to me the only way for sublimation to be zero-order is if the solid is held in a sealed container and is under dynamic equilibrium with its vapor pressure.
Newest 'sublimation' Questions - Chemistry Stack Exchange
Sublimation of Iodine from Iodine Povidone Iodine povidone is a complex of iodine and the polymer povidone. I am wondering if one were to heat it enough, the iodine would sublimate and could be collected.
Purpose of an Iodine Flask - Chemistry Stack Exchange
2017年5月12日 · Iodine itself, and iodine related molecules produced during the analysis are, to a certain extent, volatile (you can see this if you just put a bead of iodine in a sealed vial and watch the vial fill with vapour). The ground glass joint of the iodine flask prevents these vapours from escaping, improving the accuracy of your analysis.
