This guide is a intended to be an introduction to the process of building a race car out of a 2CV road car. The process is geared more towards the ‘Club’ Class. ‘Eco’ class requires even fewer modifications.

I’m delighted to announce that, come August, I’ll be entering the annual Classic 2CV Racing Club 24hr Race with Team Stinky*, running the car you see here. The car has been owned and raced by Christine Savage for the last 21 years, and has won the 24hr in the past.

The Citroën 2CV 24 Hour Race is an annual 24-hour endurance race for Classic Citroën 2CVs, and is traditionally held in August regularly at the Snetterton Circuit in Norfolk. The race is organised by the Classic 2CV Racing Club, with BARC) and MSV.

This race car started as a stock Citroën 2CV. As the 2CV was found to be affordable and easy to maintain, it was an ideal fit with the racing crowd. 24-hour endurance racing in 2CVs became popular and events were held at tracks in Belgium, Ireland, and England.

Here is the calendar for the year. Note that the dates are currently still provisional. Full sprint season entry, paid before March 1st: £2500 for club class (£2000 for Classique class). Before March 29th: £2750 for club class (£2200 for Classique Class). The 24hr is an additional cost and is entered separately.

The 2CV is a basic, simple and inherently reliable vehicle; the process of converting one into a racing car is reasonably straightforward. A relatively small number of modifications are required to transform a road-going car into a race winning one.
