The shape of the dilatation is saccular in 76% or fusiform in 24% of the cases. A very important sign is the central dot sign. The central dot corresponds to the portal vein that is surrounded by dilated bile ducts.

The dilatation of the intrahepatic bile ducts is identified with the sensitivity of 92%, and its cause – with the accuracy of 71% . The reasons for dilatation vary and are associated with patency impairment ( Tab. 5 ).

2017年2月16日 · Typically the hepatic artery lies anterior to the portal vein and medial to the bile duct in this region. The hepatic artery then divides into branches that supply the right and left liver at the level of the hepatic hilum.

On ultrasound , stones may be visualized as echogenic foci with posterior shadowing. Dilatation is diagnosed when the common bile duct is greater than 4mm + 1mm per decade above the age of 40 ( Fig. 1 ).

Intrahepatic CCa, generally a mass forming tumor containing in variable proportions, fibrosis, necrosis and mucin with peripheral active tumour growth. It is responsible of intrahepatic biliary dilatation only. Ultrasound or CT must be followed by MRI or MRCP.
