The Shasu (Ancient Egyptian: šꜣsw, possibly pronounced šaswə[1]) were Semitic -speaking pastoral nomads in the Southern Levant from the late Bronze Age to the Early Iron Age or the Third Intermediate Period of Egypt.

The term (meaning ‘to wander’ in ancient Egyptian) has come to be understood as referring to nomads or Bedouin from the area of Syria–Palestine.

This paper explores the interactions between ancient Egypt and pastoral nomads, specifically the Shasu, in the regions of Sinai, Negev, and Transjordan. By analyzing archaeological evidence and historical texts, the research highlights the significance of semi-nomadic groups in these areas during the Late Bronze and Early Iron Ages.
