Kim Westerskov is a freelance photographer, writer and teacher, specialising in OCEAN WILDERNESS areas – in the seas, sea life and coastlines from Antarctica to tropical seas.

Placid or storm-tossed, the surface of the sea is merely the portal into Earth’s largest domain, the ocean realm. For 15 years, Tauranga-based marine biologist and photographer Kim Westerskov has dived his home waters of the Bay of Plenty and found myriad subjects for his camera.

The Bay of Plenty, New Zealand, is no less plentiful today. Around Tauranga are hectares of orchards and gardens producing everything from kiwifruit and citrus fruit to avocados. Add to this bounty the local craft beer and the plentiful fresh seafood and you just know that this is a place where you will dine well.

The Bay of Plenty (Māori: Te Moana-a-Toitehuatahi) is a large bight along the northern coast of New Zealand's North Island. It stretches 260 kilometres (160 mi) from the Coromandel Peninsula in the west to Cape Runaway in the east.
