The project area includes a 0.65-mile long section of the “Glen Echo Trolley” trail from Nebraska Avenue, NW to Galena Place, NW including a 110-ft long pedestrian bridge crossing Arizona Avenue and an associated pedestrian access ramp.

The purpose of this project is to rehabilitate or replace the superstructure of the Arizona Avenue pedestrian bridge and ramp, to provide proper clearance over Arizona Avenue, and to provide an all-weather surfaced ADA-Compliant trail for the full length of the project.

2021年12月17日 · One of the most significant bridges in the District, this rare railroad Whipple truss and skewed Pratt truss has been preserved for pedestrian use. It is however overgrown and extremely difficult to photograph in whole from the side. The bridge also has a small deck plate girder approach span in addition to the two trusses.

The Arizona Avenue Trail is a 0.10-mile proposed multi-use trail that will provide a pedestrian and bicycle connection to the Capital Crescent Trail (CCT). The Arizona Avenue Connection to the CCT was identified as an important trail connection in the Palisades Trolley Trail and Foundry Branch Trolley Trestle Bridge Feasibility Study (2019).

Today the Capital Crescent Trail's (CCT) Arizona Avenue Bridge is crossed daily by thousands of CCT users. The bridge is located near the intersection of Canal Road and Arizona Avenue in the District of Columbia. It is located at Mile 3.64 of the Park. The damaged bridge is a Pratt metal truss design. It is approximately 90 feet in length.
