WrestleMania IV was the first time the WWE Championship changed hands at WrestleMania, when Randy Savage was crowned the new champion. The opening match of WrestleMania IV was a 20-Man Battle Royal, the second Battle Royal in WrestleMania history (Andre the Giant won the first one at WrestleMania 2).

Some of the celebrities at WrestleMania IV included Donald Trump, Bob Uecker, Vanna White, Gladys Knight, Robin Leach and Sugar Ray Leonard.

Thanks to a double disqualification, Hogan and Andre were both eliminated from the tournament, which allowed Randy "Macho Man" Savage to steal the spotlight at WrestleMania IV. Savage advanced to the tournament finals where he met Ted DiBiase.
