AMD specifically put out the X570 and B550 boards because the 400 and 300 series boards were buggy and not as well made. They work fine enough on older chips, but they just don't work well in the slightest on the 5000 series. 400s supporting 5000 series chips was not planned and only happened due to backlash.

If it's a more efficient 4090 that would be a little disappointing because presumably the 5000 series will have taken another leap. IMO the 6000 AMD vs 3000 Nvidia series was the best modern AMD generation, as the 6900XT was able to go neck and neck with the 3090 at raster, but 30-50% cheaper which was worth the RT penalty in value.

The biggest take away here is we are missing the value focused SKUs like a 5700x or a 5600. AMD will eventually launch more value forced SKUs but it doubtful they will offer more performance per dollar than currently priced 3000 series chips.
