The South Korean news agency Yonhap reported that the USS Alexandria, a US nuclear-powered submarine, had arrived at the naval base in Pusan in South Korea on Monday.

In a statement, a spokesperson at the North's defense ministry called the submarine's arrival a clear expression of the U.S.' "invariable hysteria for confrontation" with North Korea and an "undeniable threat" to its security environment.
