Karla Sofía Gascón, Zoe Saldaña and Selena Gomez are each nominated at the 2025 EE BAFTA Film Awards for 'Emilia Pérez,' though Gascón is absent from the guest list after facing backlash for past offensive tweets.

Journalist Sara Hagi discovered Gascón’s history of racist, Islamophobic and antisemitic posts on Thursday, days after Gascón became the first openly trans person to be nominated for a Best Actress Oscar. While some of the since-deleted posts dated to 2016, she’d made others as recently as 2023.

In the wake of the recently resurfaced tweets, Zoe Saldaña says she’s “disappointed” but remains “proud” of the film she created with Gascón.
