Two former champions met in the first round of the ATP 500 tournament in Rotterdam. The 2023 winner Daniil Medvedev ousted the champion from ten years ago, Stan Wawrinka, 6-7, 6-4, 6-1 in two hours and 27 minutes.

No. 1 seed Daniil Medvedev of Russia had little trouble defeating French qualifier Pierre-Hugues Herbert 6-2, 6-4 in the Round of 16 at the Open 13 Provence on Thursday in Marseille, France. Medvedev had an automatic bye into the second round and played his first match of the week Thursday.

The ATP Rotterdam Open is one of the world’s most prestigious indoor tournaments, and as usual the draw is stacked with a number of brilliant players.
