Daniel Cameron is no stranger to Kentucky politics and is now seeking a larger stage in Washington, D.C. Just minutes after Republican Sen. Mitch McConnell announced he would not run for reelection, Cameron shared he plans to run for the open seat.

On X, Cameron said “it's time for a new generation of leadership” in Kentucky shortly after Mitch McConnell announced retirement.

The former gubernatorial candidate came up short in 2023 but is widely seen as the GOP leader’s heir apparent.
