The fire broke out near Laguna Road and Hueneme Road near the university, according to the Ventura County Fire Department.
The Laguna Fire broke out Thursday morning near Laguna Road in Camarillo, prompting the evacuation of California State University, Channel Islands.
"The fire has been mapped at 55.7 acres with 0 percent containment," a Ventura County Fire Department spokesperson said.
The Ventura County fire just north of Los Angeles was initially estimated to be 3 acres, but has since burned 50 acres.
