A staggering €1.9 billion megatunnel is set to change the face of travel in Norway, cutting an 11-hour journey down to just 30 minutes.

Officials with the Gateway Development Commission say the contractor developed a plan that will save time on the $16-billion project.

Complicating the Gateway project are the unknowns underground, from an 1800s-era bulkhead supporting Manhattan to a former landfill on the path.
