NYPD officials said the bus driver hit the man around 10:45 p.m. Tuesday while turning from East 149th Street onto Brook Avenue in Mott Haven. The cyclist was thrown from his bike and first responders pronounced him dead at the scene, according to police. Officials did not immediately release his identity as they worked to notify his family.

The victim, a 57-year-old man, was bicycling at East 149th Street and Brook Avenue in the Melrose section around 10:30 p.m. when the bus struck him, according to police.

The victim was on an e-bike heading east on E. 149th St. alongside the bus when the MTA driver turned left onto Brook Ave., striking the cyclist.
