The rapper insists he’s a musician, not a messiah—a message reinforced by his Super Bowl performance.

When Lamar screamed “Mustaaarrrd”, during the final song, “TV Off”, the man himself galloped onto the stage holding a football. Ending with a tribute to the producer of “Not Like Us”, without whom the song wouldn’t have been anywhere near as powerful, rounded off the night on a classy note after 13 minutes of otherwise unadulterated pettiness.
