Sheriff Will Akin and a Kansas City immigration attorney told The Star that ICE agents took at least 12 people into custody Friday afternoon during the restaurant’s lunch rush.

"I have repeatedly spoken out against cooperation with ICE, saying federal immigration law is not the responsibility of local officers," the sheriff said.
