Palestinian resistance group Hamas handed over the bodies of four Israeli captives on Thursday under a Gaza ceasefire and prisoner exchange agreement. The bodies of Shiri Bibas, and her two children; Ariel and Kfir, and Oded Lifshitz were handed over to Red Cross representatives in Khan Younis city in the southern Gaza Strip.

Hamas has announced the Palestinian militant group will release six living Israeli hostages on Saturday, instead of three as initially planned. But the ceasefire which has prompted the release of hostages was briefly shown to be fragile on Tuesday with reports from a Gaza clinic that two Palestinians were dead after Israeli tanks opened fire in Rafah.

Hamas said it handed over four hostages to Israel in a display a senior U.N. official called “abhorrent and cruel.” Israel later said only three bodies belonged to captives.
