Meske played volleyball at Ohio State and helped the Buckeyes to a national semifinal appearance in 2005. Louisville athletics was spared a coaching search by having the right person at its disposal.

Meske's contract spans five years and includes a base salary of $300,000. His proposed buyout is $150,000. Meske's base salary is $100,000 less than what Busboom Kelly was making at Louisville.
