NASA's acting administrator Janet Petro said on Wednesday that Elon Musk's government efficiency panel planned to examine the space agency's spending, and noted hundreds of agency employees had accepted a government buyout proposal.

Musk's DOGE is about to audit one of the agencies that has secured him billions in contracts over the last decade.

DOGE is tearing through government agencies — and NASA may be next in line. Speaking on the sidelines of the Commerce Space Conference in Washington DC on Wednesday, the space agency's acting administrator confirmed that NASA was expecting a visit from Elon Musk's cost-cutting unit.
