Serena Williams appeared to address the meaning behind her surprise Super Bowl halftime appearance. Williams, who stunned fans by crip-walking during rapper Kendrick Lamar’s set on Sunday, seemed to confirm the appearance was a reference to her being criticized for doing the same dance move at Wimbledon in 2012.

Alexis Ohanian defended his wife, Serena Williams, following her surprise cameo in Kendrick Lamar’s Super Bowl halftime show. The Reddit co-founder first reacted to Williams’ performance the night of the show. “Pretty fantastic halftime show,” Ohanian wrote on X.

Kendrick performed his now-Grammy-winning hit "Not Like Us," during which he stared at the camera and grinned while addressing Drake directly. Moments later, the audience yelled his infamous "A MINORRR" line while Kendrick danced around in his fitting lowercase ‘a’ necklace. Eek!

The Reddit co-founder clapped back at a critic comparing his wife’s dance to “cracking a tasteless, X-rated joke inside a church.”

Williams’ appearance in the halftime show is also raising eyebrows because Lamar brought her out on stage during a song that’s commonly known as a diss to Drake. Lamar and Drake feuded over the years, culminating in a series of diss tracks about one another last summer — and a lawsuit.
