A new wildfire was reported today at 11:03 p.m. in Los Angeles County. The wildfire has been burning on private land. There is no update on the containment of the fire and its cause has yet to be determined.

The estimate — equivalent to more than three times LA County’s annual budget — would rank the wildfire toll second only to Hurricane Katrina.

Clear Fire initially started 5:09 p.m. Jan. 18 in Los Angeles County. It has been burning on federal land managed by the United States Forest Service for 22 days. At this time, the containment status is unknown and the cause of the fire remains undetermined.
