Why did Hatshepsut have her husband buried to the west of the Valley of the Kings, while she was buried in the valley itself?

A mummy was publicly identified as Hatshepsut in 2007, but it's a little spooky, so here's a statue instead. Hatshepsut might not be as well known as Cleopatra, but she ruled over Egypt long before.
