Researchers believe that they have recorded the first-ever sighting of an adult abyssal anglerfish, also known as ‘black demon fish’ or ‘black seadevil fish’, in broad daylight.
The terrifying-looking black demon fish, that lurks underwater at depths between200 and 2,000 metres, was spotted by scientists at the surface exploring the waters off the coast of Tenerife last week.
The humpback anglerfish, a type of black sea devil, also known as a “black demon,” was spotted alive for the first time by Condrik Tenerife, which specializes in marine research and conservation.
