Severance has beat out Ted Lasso for most-watched show on Apple TV Plus. According to Deadline, the sci-fi drama has garnered an impressive 589 million minutes viewed in the U.S. overall existing episodes since season 2 premiered on January 13.

Ted Lasso has officially been dethroned as the jewel in Apple TV+ ’s crown. Until this week, the Emmy-winning comedy had been the most-watched original show on Apple’s streaming service. However, it’s now been bested by the return of Severance.

It's official, Severance season 2 has become the most-watched show on Apple TV+, dethroning the beloved Ted Lasso and breaking records for one of the best streaming services. And honestly, it's easy to see why.

Since 2020, sports comedy-drama Ted Lasso has been the crown jewel in Apple TV’s crown, but no longer. Now, with an impressive 589 million minutes watched during the week of January 13, the sci-fi psychological thriller Severance has broken every prior record on the service.

Through Season 1 & half of Season 2, Severance already has amassed more viewers than any other Apple TV+ series, including three seasons of Ted Lasso.

While Severance beating out the popular Ted Lasso is impressive, it should be noted that Lasso premiered in the early days of Apple TV+, at which time the streaming service was still struggling to attract viewers. Ted Lasso is likely responsible for many of the subscribers who are currently pushing Severance to the top.

Thanks to its season 2 premiere, Severance has managed to best Ted Lasso as the most-watched show on Apple TV+.
