A U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement agent arrested a person in the lobby of the County Probation Department Thursday afternoon, causing the County to reiterate its support for the immigrant community.

Sonoma County officials sought to reassure the public Friday of their commitment to immigrant communities after a plainclothed Immigration and Customs Enforcement agent arrested a person a day earlier who had been recently released from jail in the county’s probation department.

Sonoma County officials said they committed to helping immigrants and providing guidance for county staff members after a person was arrested by a U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement officer in Santa Rosa.
