I don't think you can go wrong from any entrance. I agree with the idea posted above, to enter up town at 16th street and walk downtown. But depending on how much of a walk you are looking for, you could enter from Chambers st in tribeca and walk down and around the Battery, seeing the Statue of Liberty, New Jersey, and Ellis Island in about 45 minutes or less (depending on how fast you walk). There are lots of places to stop and sit, and also to grab a bite (I highly recommend Hudson Eats food court in Brookfield place / the Wintergarden). Hope you enjoy your time along the river!
