I would stay in either East Machias @ the Riverside Inn, or in Machias @ either the Machias River Inn or the Inn @ Schoppee Farm. Both the Inn @ Schoppee Farm and the Riverside Inn are great little inns with wonderfully nice hosts. Davis and Julie own the Inn @ Schoppee Farm and also own and run Helens Restaurant a landmark in Machias. Rocky and his wife run the Riverside Inn in East Machias and have a great happy hour on the back deck where you can look across the river at the eagle nest and its inhabitants if you are lucky. All great places and great people. You can't go wrong!

Greetings! It can be as long as you want it to be...you can retrace your path. There are also longer and shotter hikes...what I have done takes about 2 hours...but you could go for several more hours if you wanted. I'D say 2-3 hours minimum at an average pace. (BTW: I am 68 y.o. and not in great shape, and it took me 3 hours.. a truly manifest B Maine Bold Coast hike! Tou'll love it. All the best.
