This was a lovely experience. You get lots of opportunities to get up close with the train, including a stop where you can get off and then get a photo of the train coming towards you full steam. We …NickM5223的完整评论

Auckland does offer public transport and there is indirect options that would likely take at least three bus connections to Waiuku and then a walk to the Vintage Rail terminus in Waiuku. It runs into Waiuku and you can hop off the train and walk around so with a phone call ahead I would expect if they expected you they could arrange for a reverse boarding with prepayment. I mean hop on at Waiuku and ride into Glenbrook Vintage and then do the reverse back Waiuku and on to Mission Bay. It isn't impossible but would be near four hours of public transport each way so a taxi service or car rental may be better. Note you can hire cars by the hour in Auckland (search Cityhop). I realise this answer is late but may assist other travellers.
