阿克伦，也译作阿根洛，位于美国俄亥俄州东北部凯霍加河畔，是萨米特县的县治所在，人口约22万，按人口数可视为该州的第五大城。阿克伦位于五大湖地区中伊利湖的南方约63公里处。 阿克伦的最早有人居住的记载是1811年，而此市是在1825年才正式成立。当时有大批爱尔兰裔移民在此定居。在十九世纪中期，由于运河的开通，该城工业开始兴起。1883年，第一家玩具厂成立；1895年，阿克伦第一条对外铁路通车；1898年，固特异第一家工厂于阿克伦设立；1900年凡士通轮胎公司成立。于是轮胎工业成为阿克伦的标志。
